Pri Barbosa’s mural painting is a female tribute to everyday life, to the home, to the networks that are woven every day among women, to the indispensable affection behind every conversation, every meal, every smile. It is a reminder that emotions are what keep us going.
Priscila Barbosa is a visual artist, muralist, and illustrator from São Paulo. Her work explores the iconography of contemporary revolutionary women with a focus on Latin America, where she proposes critical reflections on today’s aesthetic and behavioural standards, in a strategy of confrontation and questioning of power relations. By means of portraits of women featuring different bodies and a combination of elements linked to domestic work and symbols of insubordination, Priscila constructs scenes that aim to provoke the viewer by way of opposition. Images are created that at first glance suggest the expected docility of the female gender, reinforced by the pink tones characteristic of her output, but which reveal activities of insurgency and rebellion.
