Books written in Galician will take centre stage in the coming days at Outlet Área Central. From tomorrow, Thursday 29 January, until Saturday 7 February, Área Central and the Consorcio Editorial Galego are organising the 1st Galician Book Outlet.
This new initiative will feature sales stands offering books written in Galician, covering all genres and suitable for all ages, with very affordable prices ranging from 1 to 10 euros. The sales area will be located in the outlet zone of Outlet Área Central.
The 1st Galician Book Outlet aims to promote reading in Galician around two significant dates: 21 February, International Mother Language Day, and 23 February, the anniversary of the birth of Rosalía de Castro.
In addition to the exhibition and sale of books, complementary activities will take place on Saturdays 30 January and 7 February:
Saturday 30 January, 6.00 pm: Illustration workshop Pintando a Rosalía. The best works will receive prizes.
Saturday 7 February, 6.00 pm: Activity Rosalía era unha xacia. Based on the Baia Edicións book A xacia Luviñas, attendees will discover through stories, songs and traditional chants that Rosalía de Castro was a xacia, a freshwater mermaid-like figure. The event will conclude with the award ceremony for the Pintando a Rosalía illustration workshop.
