Compostela will host the Galician Arts Day 2025 event on April 1st, paying tribute this year to the Compostela-born creator Isaac Díaz Pardo. This event, organized by the Santiago City Council and the Royal Galician Academy of Fine Arts, will feature a laudatio by academic Xosé Díaz, son of the honoree, who will speak about this key figure in Galician culture, focusing on his artistic journey from painting to industry, as well as his personal path from Santiago to Sargadelos, passing through America.
The event will be open to the public and will begin at 7:00 PM. It was noted that this is "the third time this event is held in Santiago, with the first honoree in 2015 being Maestro Mateo, and in 2020-2021, the architect Domingo de Andrade." The president of the RAGBA will open the event with a welcome speech, followed by Xosé Díaz, who will deliver the laudatio, titled “Isaac Díaz Pardo or the Forms that Emerge from Memory”.
The event will conclude with speeches by the Regional Minister of Culture, Language, and Youth of the Xunta de Galicia, José López Campos, and the Mayor of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartín, who will officially close the celebration, which will include a musical performance.
Prior to the main event, at 5:00 PM, an Ordinary Session of the Academy will be held in the City Council’s Plenary Hall.
