De un pesebre haces, Niño, cuna preciosa
The Historical Library and the Chapter House of the Cathedral are hosting a temporary exhibition entitled ‘De un pesebre haces, Niño, cuna preciosa’, organised by the staff of the Archive-Library of the Cathedral of Santiago on the occasion of the celebration of Christmas.
The exhibition offers a wide selection of 32 Christmas-themed pieces including scores, particellas and cantorales from our historical music archive: carols, responsories, invitatorios, motets, antiphons, psalms, arias and masses, manuscripts (some autographs) and printed works by some of the most important chapel masters and organists of our cathedral, as well as members of other Spanish and Italian music chapels, with a chronology ranging from the 16th to the 20th century.
The exhibition will remain on display until Sunday 12 January and will be open to those with a ticket to visit the Cathedral Museum's permanent collection.

The neighbourhood of Vistalegre celebrates its traditional festival of San Xoán from June 21st to 23rd.
June 23rd, the summer solstice, is the magical eve of “San Juan” (St. John’s Day), an ancient fiesta that is present in all cultures, marking the beginning of the summer, the time of greatest sunlight, the longest day in the year.
The members of the Cultural Association Cidade Vella have prepared various activities in several squares of Compostela’s Old Town to celebrate the most magical night of the year. There will be music, sardiñadas (grilled sardines), snacks, quitameigallos (ritual bonfires), dance groups, foliadas (traditional music gatherings), DJs and, above all, lots of partying.
Five days of music, dance, theatre, big-heads, reading, storytelling, science and much more in one of Santiago's most unique neighbourhoods.
