"Compostela das estrelas": Itinerary with artistic lighting
For a whole month, our most iconic park will shine with a special artistic illumination. From Friday, November 28th to Tuesday, January 6th, the Paseo da Ferradura in the Alameda will sparkle like never before: the light installation recreates a luminous river beneath trees bathed in moonlight, where the stars of the Milky Way —also known as the Stars of Compostela— seem to dance. This lighting creates an immersive experience, inviting visitors to stroll through the Alameda as if it were a sacred river.
A fantasy walk where children can run, dance, almost touch the stars, and capture magical photos and videos. The installation begins with a welcome at the Porta dos Leóns, featuring the message “Compostela, the Star of Christmas”. After the starlit path along the Paseo da Ferradura, visitors reach the Banco dos Namorados, with an unmissable “photocall”.

From Friday, 28 November, to Sunday, 5 January, visitors can enjoy the impressive Nativity scene created and installed by the craftsman José Uzal: more than 500 figures make up this display, which includes various scenes, moving pieces, and special lighting and sound effects.

The “Xenerais da Ulla” is the most outstanding feature of the Ulla region’s traditional Carnival. It has been held in the surroundings of Santiago since the first half of the 19th century: the “Xenerais” (generals) ride on horseback, dressed in colourful military garments similar to those of that time, but they also include purely carnivalesque adornments, which the horses also wear.
