The scarves and shawls of traditional Galician dress were one of sculptor Francisco Asorey’s great obsessions. Throughout his life, the artist gathered an impressive collection—often acquiring pieces directly from their owners—to use as reference when carving the garments of his wooden sculptures.
In the workshop From Wood to Cloth, we will follow the reverse path of the artist, printing floral motifs, plant shapes and organic elements onto fabric—an accessible, contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional pañuelo aesthetic present in Asorey’s work.
This activity offers a creative family experience that brings together craft, memory and tradition. Participants will also be able to take home their own hand-printed scarf. The workshop will use the stencil technique, a method that consists of drawing the figure to be reproduced on thick paper or a similar material and outlining it with small holes through which the paint is applied.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, 7 February, in two afternoon sessions: 4–6 pm and 6–8 pm. People of all ages are welcome, although children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Tickets can be purchased on the Ataquilla website.
