Returning to Porta do Camiño enables us to travel along the final metres of the Way of St. James towards the Cathedral. Walking up Rúa de Casas Reais –the name (Royal Houses) refers to its urbanisation by houses owned by royalty, occupied by the governor, the `Audiencia´ (Court) and other government organs imposed by the Catholic Monarchs- we pass by Pazo de Fondevila, an urban palace from the 17th century. The Church of Las Ánimas greets us with its neoclassical simplicity; it was erected thanks to the donations of devotees of the souls in Purgatory, who are burning in the eternal fire depicted in the façade bas-relief. It houses an important religious art collection, which also occupies the Church of San Bieito do Campo.
