The Centro Dramático Galego and the Portuguese collective ASTA–Teatro e Outras Artes co-produce the play Rosalía, Cartography of Harsh Nettles, joining the celebrations of the 188th anniversary of Rosalía de Castro’s birth with the premiere of this production.
Under the stage direction and dramaturgy of Roberto Salgueiro, from Santiago de Compostela, and featuring four Galician and Portuguese actors, the two companies present a contemporary theatrical proposal that reflects the thought and legacy of the poet from Padrón. Drawing on texts—and above all, verses—from Cantares Gallegos, Follas Novas, and En las orillas del Sar, a unique literary script was developed during rehearsals to explore the enduring relevance of Rosalía.
The performance features Antía Cortegoso, Sérgio Novo, Alberto Medeiros, and Marta Casais, and gives prominence to a rich soundscape created with various instruments, choreography performed by the cast, and a stage design covered in flowers.
