The exhibition showcases the work of the photographer from Ourense that came to light, over a quarter of a century, every December 28, on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, in the newspaper La Región. On that day, when the year was about to end, Augusto Pacheco would create a piece composed of a text, journalistic in nature, and a photograph, with a more or less fantastic style, that summarized local or global events of the year coming to a close. As Pacheco himself stated, the original idea was based on creating imaginary stories that, when accompanied by photographic images —strict reproductions of reality, according to the author’s belief— could be interpreted as possible, real events or situations. “It is noteworthy that the photographer, like most of his contemporaries, was a staunch defender of the faithful reproduction of reality provided by the photographic device and, at the same time, developed a practice that demolished that fidelity and explored what is true —reality— versus what is simply plausible, the photographic representation,” explain the organizers of the exhibition.
