The Fun Fun Fun Festival will kick off on Friday, June 6 with the Fun-aKadémica Day, held in collaboration with the CGAC's Espazo X in a morning session, and coordinated by María Gil Martínez, art historian and researcher at the Faculty of Geography and History at USC.

The day will feature two talks. One of them will bring together female authors who will discuss their self-publishing projects, explore the revival of self-published formats and techniques, and reflect on the path from zines to independent publishing, as well as how comic art is being produced in Galicia today.

The second talk will focus on Portugal, diving into the country’s zine production and current trends in the scene.

This opening day will also include a vermouth session featuring a B2B DJ set by Rusinha and Juait.

The main day of the festival, Saturday, June 7, will host the Zine Fair at Casa das Máquinas, bringing together over 60 self-publishing and independent publishing projects from across Galicia and Portugal.

The festival will also offer free workshops, including screen printing and temporary tattoo art, led by Klau-sura and Greta Debelius. There will also be a discussion panel introducing the Uterzine Project, which showcases punk artists from across the Iberian Peninsula through zines and an independent record label. The project is led by Maritxu Alonso, who published the book “Contramemoria: An Oral History of Over Four Decades of Punk and Feminism” at the end of 2024.

This year also sees the return of one of last year’s most popular events: the Drawing Battle, where different artists will test their creativity against the clock, following prompts created by Leandro Barea and Xaime Lis, two key figures in self-publishing, graphic humor, and comic art.

On the music side, the vermouth session will feature a DJ set by Tonita, and the final performance will be delivered by Saibran Yiyi, member of Boyanka Kostova. Alongside Fiz García (of Mundo Prestigio and Carlangas), he will debut a new musical project titled “A Harmonious Sunrise with Drops of Spring”, to be released in the coming months. As he stated during today’s press conference, “It will be a concert full of unreleased tracks that blend rap and cumbia rhythms, and that really reflect the spirit of Fun Fun Fun: humor and creativity all the way.”
