On the occasion of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Editorial Galaxia, the travelling exhibition ‘Crear porvir. 75th anniversary of Editorial Galaxia’, an exhibition that traces the history of the publishing house, from its foundation in 1950 to the present day, highlighting its key role in the cultural evolution of contemporary Galicia and its projection abroad.
The exhibition ‘Crear porvir. 75 aniversario Editorial Galaxia’ is curated by a leading team in the field of academic studies in Galicia and internationally, led by Henrique Monteagudo, professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, director of the Castelao Chair at the same university and of the journal Grial, accompanied by María Dolores Villanueva Gesteira, professor of Galician literature, and Xosé Manuel Dasilva Fernández, professor at the Faculty of Philology and Translation at the University of Vigo.
The work of authors such as Castelao, Otero Pedrayo, Eduardo Blanco Amor, Paco Martín, Xohana Torres, Carlos Casares, Fina Casalderrey, Manuel Rivas, Yolanda Castaño, Paula Carballeira, Domingo Villar, Xesús Fraga, Xosé Manuel Núñez Seixas, Marilar Aleixandre...; of publishers such as Carlos Casares and Víctor F. Freixanes...; and of founders such as Otero Pedrayo, Ramón Piñeiro, Xaime Isla Couto and Francisco Fernández del Riego. Freixanes...; and the founders of the publishing house, such as Otero Pedrayo, Ramón Piñeiro, Xaime Isla Couto and Francisco Fernández del Riego; as well as titles that helped to shape the literary panorama of Galicia, forming a global vision of Galician publishing during the Franco regime and democracy.
The exhibition is divided into four thematic blocks that invite visitors to explore literature and its authors, from the Rexurdimento to the generation of the new millennium; Galician essays and thought, with studies on language, history, society and ecology, as well as reference projects such as the magazine Grial; translation and international projection, with Galician as the language of reception and universal creation; and children's and young people's literature, in which Galaxia was a pioneer with collections and spaces aimed at the youngest audiences. The exhibition also has a space for children's audiences that invites them to read and enjoy publishing for the youngest ages.
