Near the Auditorium is the Media Studies Faculty by the well-known Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza, who also designed the Galician Contemporary Art Centre (described in Route 1). This building´s volumes stand out because of their luminosity, the apparent constructive simplicity and evocative capacity that set apart the work of this architect, characterised by the creation of ambiguous, poetical spaces.
The quality and involvement of the architect in the design of this educational building is really exceptional: Siza even defined the pieces of furniture, including the benches in the lecture rooms, the door handles or the signs, which makes this building a notable example of total art.
The Philology Faculty, situated beside the previous faculty, is another good example of contemporary architecture, by the architects Alberto Noguerol and Pilar Díez.
