CONVERSANDO CON… Baldur Brönnimann

The assistant conductor selection is a project by the Real Filharmonía de Galicia aimed at supporting the practical training of emerging orchestral conductors, offering real work experience with a professional orchestra throughout 2025. Through a selection process, various candidates are given the opportunity to conduct the RFG in a public concert. This initiative is part of the orchestra's commitment to music education and to the future of the sector, helping to pave the way for new generations of artists. Under the baton of the candidates, the orchestra will perform Ligeti’s Romanian Concerto, which channels the expressive power he discovered in “authentic” Romanian folklore, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, a work that was initially met with some misunderstanding, particularly due to its bold and innovative treatment of the symphonic genre—traits that would define his entire future output.
