The Gonzalo Torrente Ballester Foundation will open on July 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the permanent exhibition Gonzalo Torrente Ballester. Journey of Life and Creation. Curated by Carmen Becerra Suárez, a specialist in the author’s work, the exhibition offers a vital and creative journey through the different stages of Torrente Ballester’s life, from his childhood in Ferrol to his final years in Salamanca, providing a deep insight into this multifaceted figure, one of the major names in 20th-century Spanish literature. It brings together bibliographic, documentary, and personal materials from the Foundation’s collections, including first editions of his most emblematic works such as La saga/fuga de J.B., Los gozos y las sombras, and Don Juan, as well as family photographs, manuscripts, personal objects, awards, and honors. At the end of the exhibition, visitors can watch the documentary GTB x GTB, directed by Luis Felipe Torrente and Daniel Suberviola, offering an intimate and moving portrayal of the man, writer, teacher, critic, and screenwriter.
