Francisco Domínguez opens the concert with his Comet, introducing a programme that bridges different approaches to contemporary creation. With remarkable clarity, London-born Rebecca Saunders explores the role of music in a society in constant conflict, aiming to highlight the humanity that surrounds us. Inspired by Beckett’s Texts for Nothing, VOID traces, through a vast orchestral palette, the fluctuation between noise and sound. The premature death of Francisco Guerrero in 1997, at the age of 47, left suspended one of the most original ways of approaching music through mathematics. Coma Berenices is regarded as the most significant work by the composer from Jaén; composed a year before his death, it is literally inspired by the mathematical proportions found in the constellation located west of Leo.
