What would you do if you inherited a notebook from a close friend of Begoña Caamaño? In this play, we learn the story of a journalist who decides to record a live podcast to tell it. To mark International Women's Day, the Library of Galicia presents the world premiere of Begoña Caamaño: o transgredir das ondas, a play that tells the story of Begoña through the eyes of her close friend África, whom she met on March 8, 1997.
Based on the relationship between the diary entries and the different moments in Begoña's professional life, the trajectory of an exceptional creator, committed to feminism and the various social movements in which she participated, is reconstructed before the audience. However, during the recording of this podcast, various technical problems arise that transform the journalist's initial ideas and have a decisive influence on her narrative, as if Begoña's own spirit wanted to clarify some of the passages narrated and, like the protagonists of her novels, be the master of her own story.
This work, with dramaturgy by Paula Carballeira, performed by Rocío González, and directed by Chiqui Pereira, combines documentary theater, radio theater, and dramatic play in the form of a ghost comedy, addressing issues such as self-sufficiency, gender equality, and the importance of freedom of expression in journalism.
