As estacións do ano is a unique contemporary art exhibition that invites visitors to open their senses, walk slowly, and immerse themselves in each work. Based on a concept of spatial immersion, the Museo Centro Gaiás becomes a space where art is experienced through sounds, temperature, colors, and textures, with spring, summer, autumn, and winter serving as the major stages of our lives.
Curated by Mónica Alonso, artist and researcher, each painting, sculpture, photograph, installation, and video has been carefully selected to design a journey that emphasizes the emotional, sensory, and symbolic value of the artistic experience.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors will encounter landscapes, still lifes, sculptures, and images evocative of the individual and collective memory of each season in Galicia. Elements such as rain and snow, the sea, green mountains, flowers, and fruits like corn, cabbage, or potatoes appear not only as aesthetic motifs but as fundamental components of Galician life and identity.
From the Regionalist Movement of the early 20th century to the younger generations gaining national and international recognition, As estacións do ano brings together over 80 works by 63 artists, drawn from Galicia’s most prominent public and private collections, including Afundación, ABANCA, María José Jove, Luis Seoane, Eugenio Granell, CGAC, and the Fine Arts museums of A Coruña, Pontevedra, and Lugo, as well as the Nordés and Trinta galleries.
