Presentation concert of Amorodios, the new album by Xan Campos.

Xan Campos is one of the most distinctive and acclaimed voices in contemporary Iberian jazz. Born in Cangas in 1987, he trained in conservatories in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, developing a musical language that draws from the openness of European jazz and from constant exploration of forms and timbres. With five albums as a leader and more than thirty as a sideman, he has performed at major festivals across Europe and Latin America and has collaborated with some of the most important figures in international jazz. His music stands out for its rhythmic experimentation, expressive harmonies and a blend of influences that range from electronic music to impressionism, always driven by a clear desire to break away from convention.

Amorodios is his most recent project and, at the same time, a turning point in his career. Without abandoning the musical identity that defined his previous work, this new quartet opens a different path in his sound universe: for the first time, lyrics and voice take centre stage, thanks to the presence of Faia Díaz, a singer deeply connected to Galician oral tradition, who brings a new strength and a truthfulness that transforms the music and turns it into something rooted. The band is completed by two key musicians of Galician jazz: drummer Iago Fernández, internationally recognised for his expressive approach, and guitarist and bassist Virxilio Da Silva, who adds great timbral richness with echoes of rock. Amorodios is both catharsis and synthesis — a living, honest, unadorned music that weaves together different worlds to tell something new.
