The exhibition consists of eight panels dedicated to these pioneers with which the USC Library wants to contribute to put their figures on an equal footing.
The protagonists of the exhibition are Áurea Rodríguez, the first known bagpiper; Maruxa Villanueva, actress, singer and theatrical entrepreneur in Galicia and beyond the Atlantic; Elisa Patiño, the first Galician aviator and one of the first in Europe; María Wonenburger, researcher in algebra and the first Spanish woman to obtain a Fullbright grant; María Luz Morales, the first director of a newspaper in Spain; Ángela Ruiz Robles, teacher and inventor of a precursor of the electronic book; Concepción Pérez Iglesias, teacher and first mayoress of Galicia and one of the first in Spain; and María Barbeito, educator who brought the most modern pedagogical theories that were being developed in Europe to Galicia at an early age.
