The Eugenio Granell Foundation was created in 1995 by virtue of an agreement between the surrealist artist, Eugenio Granell, and Santiago City Council.
Located in Pazo de Bendaña, in Plaza del Toral in the centre of Compostela, the Foundation houses a wide-ranging collection of works by the artist, his surrealist and ethnic collections and, as of 1997, the works donated by the English surrealist artist Philip West, who also bequeathed his collection of surrealist books.
Apart from this activity related strictly to the artistic world, the Foundation also has the goal of becoming a place of cultural creation and promotion. Therefore, by means of its education department, it organizes workshops, guided visits and children’s activities. Its cultural department carries out another series of activities, including concerts, theatre, poetry recitals, conferences…
The Foundation has a shop and a library specialized in surrealism.
