Fanny Mendelssohn: Overture in C
Anna Clyne: Dance for Cello and Orchestra
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 8 in F major, op. 93
Fanny Mendelssohn is one of the composers who has been revived in recent years. Her Overture in C, the only orchestral work signed by the composer, was premiered at the well-known Berlin Sonntagsmusiken, which she organised in her home and which attracted more than 300 people. The British Anna Clyne did enjoy all the recognition for her career during her lifetime. A fixture in the seasons of international orchestras, her Dance for Cello and Orchestra has been described by critics as one of the most moving pieces of contemporary music.
