Fanny Mendelssohn is one of the composers who have been revived in recent years. Her Overture in C, the only orchestral work signed by the composer, was premiered at the well-known Berlin Sonntagsmusiken, which she organised in her home and which attracted more than 300 people. The British Anna Clyne did enjoy all the recognition for her career during her lifetime. Present in the seasons of international orchestras, her Dance for Cello and Orchestra was defined by critics as one of the most moving pieces of contemporary music. The programme ends with Symphony No. 8 by the season's most prominent maverick composer, Ludwig van Beethoven: the liveliness and writing of its last movement already preludes the genius of the Ninth.
