The José Lorenzo Art Gallery in Santiago hosts the exhibition Luz Atlántica, dedicated to the Vigo-born artists José Frau (1898–1976) and Ángel Sevillano (1942–1994).
The show features thirty works exploring light, colour and form through two complementary approaches to Atlantic and post-avant-garde figurative art. Frau’s paintings, mainly landscapes and interiors, evoke emotion through atmosphere and expression, while Sevillano’s naïve, colourful scenes portray everyday figures with tenderness and warmth.
The exhibition is complemented by a display from the gallery’s collection, offering a journey through contemporary Galician art — from early 20th-century masters to the Atlántica Group of the 1980s.
Monday to Friday: 11:30 - 14:00 | 17:30 - 21:00

The “Xenerais da Ulla” is the most outstanding feature of the Ulla region’s traditional Carnival. It has been held in the surroundings of Santiago since the first half of the 19th century: the “Xenerais” (generals) ride on horseback, dressed in colourful military garments similar to those of that time, but they also include purely carnivalesque adornments, which the horses also wear.
The natural region of a Ulla features an original rural carnival, whose record goes back to the mid-19th century.
