Facémolo co corpo. A performance é cousa de mulleres brings together the work of a significant number of artists, each capable of shaping a narrative around the history of performance art since the late 1960s, when this artistic language began to flourish. Performance emerged as one of the most engaging forms of creation, closely tied to the need to reconnect art practices with life and to embrace new social commitments—something that art had largely set aside since the realist movements of the late 19th century. It also arose from the struggle of women artists to gain access to institutions, with its ephemeral nature making it easier for them to find space within the art world.
In Facémolo co corpo, we have selected works that allow us to explore performance in Galicia, a scene largely shaped by women who have appeared in the programming of institutions and festivals, as well as in independent exhibitions and events over recent decades. Some are Galician; others have contributed through their work to building audiences and inspiring artists who see performance as their main form of expression within our region.
