The British architect Carolyn Steel will visit Casa RIA next week to kick off the ‘Market Encounters’ cycle, a programme of international meetings to promote the value of our Galician markets in gastronomic culture.

This series of activities will begin next Tuesday with the architect and author of the books Hungry City and Sitopia, renowned for her work in urban sustainability, a field in which she explores the relationship between food and cities.

During her stay at Casa RIA, she will visit the Santiago market to learn about local products and design a special menu in collaboration with the chef Iago Pazos.

On Tuesday 18 February at 18.30, Carolyn Steel will give a lecture at the Fundación RIA’s headquarters in Santiago de Compostela, in a free event for which prior registration is required.

Following the talk and the subsequent debate, A Cantina will offer a dinner co-designed with the author using seasonal products, the result of her visit to the food market. This special menu, by reservation and priced at 50 euros (plus booking fee) will include four courses – vegetable, sea, meat and after dinner – including drink.
