To mark the celebration of International LGBTIQ+ Pride Day on June 28, Compostela Diversa presents a series of actions and activities aimed at making Santiago a leading city of inclusion and welcome. The initiative promotes global and inclusive efforts to advance rights, visibility, and the normalization of everyday life for the entire LGTBIQ+ community.

Over 200 local businesses and hospitality venues in the city join the Compostela Diversa initiative each year. Shops, bars, restaurants, and accommodations celebrate diversity with aprons, posters, postcards, coasters, placemats, and LGTBI+ pennants.

To further showcase Compostela Diversa’s values, Santiago Tourism will install special lighting and decorations in high-traffic public spaces. These include the main Santiago Tourism Office, various locations in the Alameda Park—such as the Music Pavilion, the iconic Marías sculpture, the entrance from Porta Faxeira, and the “Lovers’ Eucalyptus” tree.

In addition, a large rainbow installation will be placed along the Alameda’s Paseo dos Leóns, offering locals and visitors the chance to take photos with the colors of diversity and the Historic Centre and Cathedral in the background.

Decorative elements and lighting will also reach other key spots such as praza Roxa, rúa das Ameas, and the Mercado de Abastos, among others. The lighting display will be visible from June 5 to June 30, from dusk until late at night.
