Participatory project with choirs from Galicia
Javier Fajardo, conductor
Milan Périsic, baritone
Andrea Rey, mezzo-soprano
Overtures, choruses, and arias from iconic operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti, and Georges Bizet.
Project in collaboration with: Federación de Coros de Galicia and Amigos da Ópera de Santiago de Compostela
Galician conductor Javier Fajardo once again leads Cantamos!, a project through which the Real Filharmonía invites all amateur choirs in Galicia to take part. The third edition of this participatory initiative focuses on opera—a genre with universal appeal that, nevertheless, often remains distant from the general public. Cantamos! offers a unique way to engage with it: by performing and experiencing it from within, in a collective event with great transformative power. Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti, and Bizet are essential for this reason. Their music tells stories of love and jealousy, courage and devotion, sacrifice and generosity. Their operas are part of our shared human experience and remain powerful tools for conveying emotion, knowledge, and collective identity. What better way to love them than by bringing their scores to life?
