These are the main large-scale nativity scenes that we can to visit this Christmas in Santiago de Compostela [the list will be extended as we receive confirmations from the organisers/assemblers of the different nativity scenes]:

BELÉN DE SAN FIZ DE SOLOVIO | 28 nov - 6 Jan
Traditional nativity scene. Nearly 500 figures, moving parts, river with running water, day/night cycle and special effects.

Opening: Friday, 28 November, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Monday 1 to Thursday 18 December: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Fridays, weekends and school holidays: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
SPECIAL HOURS: 24 and 31 December: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. / 25 December and 1 January: 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

NAPOLITAN NATIVITY SCENE OF THE CATHEDRAL OF SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA 3 Dec to 6 Jan
Nativity scene in Neapolitan style (50 m², 500 handcrafted figures, many of them with mechanical movements).
Location: Church of the Convent of Carmen.
Open: every day from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00. Special dates: 25 December and 1 January, open mornings only.

POPULAR NATIVITY SCENE OF THE CATHEDRAL OF SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA 3 Dec to 6 Jan
Popular-style Nativity scene with figures by Nicolás Almansa (70 m², 530 handcrafted figures, some with mechanical movements).
Location: Church of Santo Agostiño.
Open: every day from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. Special dates: 25 December and 1 January, open mornings only.

CONXO FAMILY NATIVITY SCENE | 6 Dec to 7 Jan
More than 45 m³ of display, 1,250 figures (135 moving), 220 decorative pieces, 1,935 lights, 40 metres of battlemented walls, 39 biblical scenes, water and natural vegetation.
Location: Ruela de Torrente 6–8, Conxo
Open: Monday to Saturday, 17:00–20:00. Sundays and holidays, 11:00–13:00 and 17:00–20:00.

SURREALIST NATIVITY SCENE OF THE EUGENIO GRANELL FOUNDATION | 11 Dec to 11 Jan
Artistic Nativity scene with a different, surrealist and multicultural perspective. Ethnic collection.
Location: Pazo de Bendaña, Praza do Toural
Open: Tuesday to Friday, 11:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00. Saturdays, 10:30–14:30. Closed on Mondays, Sundays, holidays, and 24 and 31 December.

NATIVITY SCENE OF THE COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAR | 15 Dec to late Jan
Display of traditional scenes with moving figures, with more than 30 years of history.
Location: Cloister of the Collegiate Church of Sar (entrance through the Museum).
Open: Monday to Friday, 10:00–14:00 and 16:00–18:00. Saturdays, 10:00–14:00.
Saturday afternoons and Sundays: hours subject to religious services.

NATIVITY SCENE OF THE CHURCH OF SAN CAETANO | 15 Dec to 2 Feb
With figures from around the world, especially from the Americas (Brazil, Argentina, Mexico) and also French, Filipino, Holy Land, Mozambican (with ebony wood figures), Bangladeshi, among others.
Location: Rúa de San Caetano, s/n (Exhibition hall next to the church).
Open: Monday to Saturday, 10:00–13:00 and 17:00–18:00. Sundays, 10:00–13:00.

MALLOU FAMILY NATIVITY SCENE | 30 Nov to 7 Jan
A 30 m² Nativity scene with more than 1,500 pieces, exhibited by this family for over 50 years in the space next to their home in Mallou, winner of several awards. With mechanised elements and extraordinary detail — even vegetables grow in the garden.
Location: Rúa de Mallou, 24
Open: Monday to Saturday, 17:00–20:30. Sundays and holidays, 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–20:30.

CAFÉ CASINO | 4 Dec to 6 Jan
Nativity scene created by Javier Varela, featuring replicas of Compostela buildings. Also includes an exhibition of antique ceramic pieces of the Child Jesus, some nearly 100 years old.
Location: Rúa do Vilar, 35
Open: same hours as the café.

NATIVITY SCENE OF THE SAN MARTÍN PINARIO GUESTHOUSE – 5 Dec to 7 Jan
Location: San Martín Pinario Monastery (entrance through the Guesthouse shop).
Open: shop hours (closed 22–26 December).

HANDCRAFTED NATIVITY SCENE OF THE COFRADÍA DE LA HUMILDAD OF SANTIAGO – 14 Dec to 7 Jan
Nativity scene in memory of N.H.D. Manuel Plaza.
Location: Church of San Juan Evangelista, Vite
Open: Monday to Saturday, 17:30–19:30. Sundays, 11:00–12:30.

OBRADOIRO NATIVITY SCENE – 29 Nov to 8 Jan
The square itself features a silhouette Nativity scene integrated into the Garden of the Eight Points.
Location: Praza do Obradoiro.

NATIVITY SCENE AT PAZO DE RAXOI – XUNTA DE GALICIA – 2 Dec to 7 Jan

A 21 m² handcrafted Nativity scene with around one hundred large figures and a setting created by expert Nativity artists from Oviedo, recreating scenes of the birth of Jesus and also traditional rural life in Galicia.
Location: Praza do Obradoiro – Pazo de Raxoi (entrance through the Presidency of the Xunta de Galicia).
Open: every day, 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–21:00

 

NATIVITY SCENE AT THE HOSPEDERÍA SAN MARTÍN PINARIO – 5 Dec to 5 Jan
Location: Monastery of San Martín Pinario (entrance through the Hospedería shop)
Opening hours: same as the shop (closed from 22 to 26 December)

HANDCRAFTED NATIVITY SCENE OF THE COFRADÍA DE LA HUMILDAD DE SANTIAGO – 14 Dec to 7 Jan
Nativity scene in memory of N.H.D. Manuel Plaza.
Location: Church of San Juan Evangelista – Vite
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 17:30 to 19:30
Sundays from 11:00 to 12:30

NATIVITY SCENES FROM AROUND THE WORLD
From December 4 to 31, Manos Unidas presents an exhibition at its charity shop featuring nativity scenes provided by Teresa Rey Barreiro.

Monday to Friday: 10:30 am – 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Holidays: 11:00 – 11:30 am and 5:30 – 8:00 pm
