This itinerary starts in A Estrada’s Alameda (park), beside Plaza del Concello, leading towards the parish of Ouzande. We soon leave the asphalt behind, going up a trail leading to the Ouzande waterwheels and the dam holding the water used by them. Going through carballeiras (oak groves), which reflect the region’s traditional small-scale exploitation of woodland, we come to the hamlet of Castroramiro in A Somoza. There we can see its own threshing floor and the characteristic planning of a rural population centre. On our way back to A Estrada, we can visit another series of waterwheels and a small cascade, as well as the Romanesque church of Ouzande in the final stage of the itinerary.
