Mupega (Galician Pedagogic Museum)
print cuaderno de viaje

The Pedagogic Museem of Galicia (MUPEGA) is a museum dependant on the Galician Department of Education and University Regulation, which opened in October 2004. This project is a continuation and updating of an old project from 1926, aimed at founding a Galician museum centred on education.

Its main objective is reviving, protecting, displaying and disseminating Galicia’s rich educational heritage. The evolution of the Galician school is presented on three floors. It features recreations of classrooms from the 19th century to the recent EGB (General Basic Education) system, curious school objects or old toys. For visitors that want to travel back in time and return to their childhood or visit the school of their elders, MUPEGA features an old classroom in which they can feel like a pupil of the past.

Moreover, MUPEGA organises guided tours (of at least ten people) with a common objective: presenting Galicia’s rich school heritage in an amusing and attractive way.
