The capacity for symbolic thought and language are two abilities unique to Homo sapiens, modern humans. The study of their evolutionary development over the last two million years is one of the greatest problems facing science today, a challenge of enormous interest since language is the most extraordinary feature of human nature, a tool for elaborating complex thoughts and for transmitting information from one mind to another that does not exist in any other known living being.

Curriculum 

Xurxo Mariño holds a PhD in Biological Sciences, professor at the Department of Physiotherapy, Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of A Coruña.He collaborated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he carried out his postdoctoral research.He carries out activities for the dissemination of scientific and humanistic knowledge in all kinds of formats.
