Other Possible Stories brings together the work of six contemporary artists born in the 1950s and linked to Galicia in their lives and careers, whose careers are worth reviewing and contextualising in order, as the title of the project states, to generate other stories to complement those already known. The exhibition, curated by the researcher and art critic Susana Cendán, focuses on Ana García Pan, Emilia Guimeráns, Anne Heyvaert, Tusi Sandoval, Blanca Silva and Laura Terré, all of them artists who stood out, on their own merits of dedication and talent, especially in the 80s of the last century.
In this sense, the exhibition is presented as a guide that complements what is already known within the social and artistic framework of the 1980s, a context that was not always favourable to artistic creation by women. But beyond the vindictive aspect, Other Possible Stories aims to celebrate, show and share the talent of a group of artists capable of creating a personal, complex and diverse work, both formally and conceptually, and to situate it in its rightful place in the history of contemporary art.
