From seed to tree. An asset for our lives connects with the original idea for which the Hejduk towers were designed, conceived as botanical towers. Thus, the spaces are used as a greenhouse, where two types of Galician forests - Atlantic and Mediterranean - are recreated, and as a classroom, where fruits, seeds and final products obtained from the tree are exhibited.
The intervention aims to highlight the importance of forests and woodlands and their multifunctionality. Ecologically, forests are characterized by the dominance of a stratum formed by trees, the main element of this ecosystem where a great diversity of animal and plant species coexist. Trees also make up the forest with other shrub, bush and herbaceous species.
The experience invites us to immerse ourselves in the forest cycle that goes from the seed to the final benefits of trees for our lives: contribution to climate change mitigation, soil protection, conservation of water resources or source of natural resources and raw materials, in addition to a landscape, social, cultural and leisure function.
