If there is a mysterious city, in my opinion, it has to be Santiago. When night falls, its empty, tourist-free streets, enveloped in shadows, rain and mist, become a fascinating labyrinth of sensations and echoes, which I tried, to some extent, to reflect in the film “Trece Campanadas”. After spending three or four months in the city preparing and shooting the film, there is something about it that will always accompany me; because Santiago is a strange city that gets inside you and takes possession of you, the whys and wherefores of which are impossible to explain. Could it be, as we joked during filming, the radon gas emitted by the stones taking hold of the person breathing it in?
