Chinensis refers to its origin, China.

Origin and distribution:
This plant is distributed around Asia: China, Korea, Japan, Manchuria and Siberia. William Kerr brought it from China to Kew Gardens (England).
Location in the garden:
There are some specimens in the gardens of Méndez Núñez Monument and another next to the 'A Mona' Fountain.
