Amal is a word that means hope. With this name was launched in 2003 the International Euroarab Film Festival Amal, organized by the Araguaney Foundation-Bridge of cultures. It came up with the aim of approaching to the public the social reality and Arab culture, through a worldwide language like cinema.
Amal offers the audience the possibility of accessing to films out of the commercial film distribution circuits. Movies and talks with filmmakers are the main attractions of the Festival, a meeting point to promote the dialogue among professionals of the seventh art.
The cultural offer of Amal goes beyond the cinema. On the past seven years, the Festival has increased its offer of activities with the aim of showing a polyhedral vision of Arab world: exhibitions, competitions, cinema workshops for children and the Arab gastronomic week were some of the activities of Amal.
The Festival counts on the support of important institutions and organizations, among which will point out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the Xunta (Galician government).
