Gardens of Méndez Núñez Monument
Vigo (1824-1869)

He was a naval officer, rear admiral of the Spanish Navy. He was the first man who went around the world on a battleship, in charge of the “Numancia”, and he took part at the battle of Callao (Peru). The monument was erected by the City Council of Santiago in collaboration with his admirers from Pontevedra (1885). There is another commemorative plaque from the City Council of Ferrol.  Monument built by Sanmartín.
