Attracting family tourism and discovering Galicia
The Tourism councillor, Sindo Guinarte, presented this initiative today along with the manager of Santiago Tourism, Flavia Ramil, and the president of the Galician Association of Professional Tourist Guides, Tommi Alvarellos. The initiative is the result of an agreement signed between Santiago Tourism and the Association of Guides.
Sindo Guinarte pointed out that one of Santiago Tourism’s main objectives, in the short and medium term, is to attract family tourists from the Iberian Peninsula, encouraging them to enjoy long stays and use Santiago as a centre for discovering not only the city but also Galicia in a safe way.According to Guinarte, "Santiago Rewards You," which is also backed by A Coruña Provincial Council, forms part of this objective.
He likewise highlighted the fact that the initiative has two main beneficiaries: more than 170 Compostela hotels and boarding houses, which will have a gift to offer the individuals and families that spend at least three nights in their establishment; and the city’s tourist and commercial sectors in general, since increasing the average tourist stay has a direct economic impact.
