The church belonged to the old convent of the Third Order of St. Francis, founded in the 14th century. It is an example of continuity in space and time. It was rebuilt in the 15th century.
Inside it is worth mentioning two Gothic side tombs and its main baroque altarpiece, from the church of San Paio de Antealtares in Santiago de Compostela.
The church was altered in the 18thth century. The nave was extended by building a barrel vault. An interesting series of images has survived from that time: the altarpiece featuring Our Lady of Sorrows .The organ is from the 18th century. The façade and main front belong to Compostela's late baroque style of the 18th century.
