Santiago with Views of the Sky

Like Rome, Santiago de Compostela arose in the midst of hills. Some of them were gradually absorbed by the metropolitan area, while others continue to fulfil their ancient function as city limits and bastions. They all make up a sinuous cityscape of great scenic value, being natural viewpoints and privileged balconies overlooking the city.

Furthermore, they reveal two realities that unequivocally define Santiago: the omnipresence of the Cathedral and the city’s close relationship with its natural surroundings.
