Advice for Cyclists Entering the City
Cyclists travelling along the Way of St. James can enter Plaza del Obradoiro via the same urban route as walkers and no prior authorisation is required. It is very important to obey the Highway Code in order to avoid accidents. If your group is accompanied by a car to carry the bikes, you should get in touch with the Local Police (tel: 092) in advance to request permission to drive into Plaza del Obradoiro or into the old town. The Post Office, in Rúa do Franco, runs a left-luggage service for backpacks and bikes.
Advice for Entering the City on Horseback
Pilgrims planning to enter the city on horseback should notify the Local Police (tel: 092) several days before their arrival. The police will thereby be able to tell you the compulsory route and stipulated times, and give you an access permit so that you can enter as far as Plaza del Obradoiro and stay for a short time in front of the Cathedral. Immediately thereafter, the horses should be taken to their pre-arranged stables or accommodation.
