Our protagonists are three soldiers of the Spanish army who are going to find themselves in the lands of the Rif after the Disaster of Annual on 22 July 1921. They are three soldiers who represent the thousands of young Spaniards who were uprooted from their homes and the thousands of Rifians who were forced to fight on the Spanish side to alleviate their hunger and misery. Through their stories, their tales, their experiences, which will travel through sadly mythical places such as Igueriben, Zeluán or Monte Arruit, and which will be projected up to the ill-fated year of 1936, key figures from those wars will parade before us: deputies, high commissioners, kings, barmaids, prostitutes, fallen men, film artists, journalists, soldiers and civilians.
With them we will visit, as if it were a grotesque nightmare, the café cantante and the blocao, the pasodoble and the almuédano, the aduar and the military march, the brothel and the ravine, the casino, the aguada, the ambush, the dirty business, the bravery of some, the vileness of many, the fear of the majority, the bayonet, the gumía, the carbine, the unbearable thirst, the burnt body, the severed head, the entrails, in short, of an unnecessary, unjust and cruel war, which caused thousands of deaths of Spaniards and Rifians, including the use of toxic gases, and with crucial consequences for the future of the 20th century.
