The sopranos Emilia Pérez and Lucía Iglesias and the baritone Lucas López star in this lyrical evening in which we will be able to listen to some fragments from well-known operas. The Marriage of Figaro was premiered in 1786, with the mandatory "Viennese finale" imposed by the Emperor, who forbade tragic operas to be performed in his Imperial Theatre. Rossini had more creative freedom, and in three weeks he composed The Barber of Seville, also based on Beaumarchais's trilogy and, as was his custom, reusing earlier music. Two months after Mozart's death, Cimarosa presented The Secret Marriage in Vienna, with a success that Rossini's opera did not enjoy at its premiere. The programme moves on to the 19th century with an operetta, The Bat, which consecrated Johann Strauss Jr., despite his political position and the outright hostility of his father, with whom he had one of the most notorious rivalries in the world of music.
