The banquet that brought together university students, workers and craftsmen around the same table on 2 March 1856 to demand equality and freedom, remains in the collective memory as one of the foundational events of the galeguismo.
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Festa do Banquete (Banquet Party) returns to the Carballeira de Conxo on 20, 21, 22 and 29 May. Among the activities to be visited is the Craft Market which will host exhibitors from the book and craft sectors in the Aurelio Aguirre square.
On Sunday 22 29th May there will be a Serán da Fraternidade open to traditional music and dance, where you can come with your music or dance group. You can also come dressed in period costume to the Banquet Party. There are workshops for designing 19th century costumes (student, craftsman, worker, nobleman, priest...) in the CSCs and you can count on the advice and support of the Asociación do Traxe Galego (Galician Costume Association).
