The ensemble Música Práctica inaugurates the cycle Ópticas contemporáneas 2024 of the Cidade da Cultura on Sunday 15 September with a journey through the most recent musical creation that culminates in a premiere work by Fernando Buide, specifically written for the multi-instrumentalist Abraham Cupeiro, guest of honour of the concert.
Miradas en la memoria is the title that encompasses a programme in which we will hear compositions by Leonardo Balada (Catalonia), Joseba Torre (Basque Country) and Fernando Buide (Galicia), three contemporary composers united by Pittsburgh, the steel city. Interspersed between them in this non-stop concert, fragments of Horoscope by the German Karlheinz Stockhausen will be played.
The programme will close with Constelación de Sagitario by Fernando Buide, jointly commissioned by the Quincena Musical Donostiarra and the Fundación Cidade da Cultura through its support programmes for artistic creation. In this work, the Galician musician Abraham Cupeiro will play several of the ancestral instruments that he has been recovering: the Celtic carnyx, the Greek aulos and the Roman cornu, as well as sea shells, present in so many sound cultures. A constellation that allows a lost world to resonate in us and now recovered.
