The new Cirque du soleil show, 'Corteo', will travel to the 'Multiusos Fontes do Sar' in Santiago in February.
'Corteo', which means courtship in Italian, is a joyful procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to immerse the public in a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity located in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The protagonist clown imagines his own funeral which takes place in a carnival atmosphere, guarded by silent guardian angels. Juxtaposing the big with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that there is within each one of us. The music becomes lyrical and playful in Corteo by transferring it through a timeless celebration in which the illusion mocks reality.
The concept and layout of the stage lead the viewer to a theatrical atmosphere like never before seen in the Cirque du Soleil shows in a pavilion. The set of curtains, inspired by the Eiffel Tower and hand painted, give a great feeling to the stage giving poetry to the new show.
