From the 7th to the 24th of November Cineuropa will once again bring to Compostela the most outstanding films of the European and international film circuits, in a true melting pot of influences and origins.
The list of major names on the programme includes Frenchmen François Ozon (Cando cae o outono / Quand vient l'automne), Bruno Dumont (O imperio / L'Émpire) and Quentin Dupieux (Le deuxième acte / The Second Act); a británica Andrea Arnold (Bird) e o seu compatriota Mike Leigh (Hard Truths / A miña única familia), alén do italiano Paolo Sorrentino (Parthenope), o portugués Miguel Gomes (Grand Tour) ou o norteamericano Paul Schrader (Oh Canada).
This will be the fourth edition of Cineuropa as a competitive international festival, with 12 films in competition and an international jury made up of three women: the Brazilian filmmaker Flávia Castro, the Galician director, screenwriter and performer Sonia Méndez and the Uruguayan programmer and cultural journalist María José Santacreu.
In its 38th edition, Cineuropa honours the career of Alberto Gracia, the Spanish-Swedish actress Ingrid Garcia-Jonsson, and the Brazilian filmmaker Flávia Castro. The presentation of the award to Gracia will take place on Tuesday 12th at the Teatro Principal, in an event that will include the screening of his film La Parra, which has just received the award of the Alquimias section of the Seminci.
The programme of the 38th edition of Cineuropa also includes numerous parallel activities. Apart from the already classic concerts by the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and the Santiago Municipal Music Band, the festival keeps its appointment with the special screenings of Cineuropa Miúda (aimed at children of different ages) and once again hosts the screening of the finalist works of Xuventude Crea in the video-creation category. It also hosts the presentation of a selection of short films developed by the young participants in the Cinema en Curso project, a meeting with director Spiros Javides, a tribute to José Val del Omar, a training session on ‘New financing solutions for audiovisual production’, in collaboration with AGAPI, EGEDA and Segoventure, and the aforementioned round table debate on the acting revolution of the Actor's Studio.
The Teatro Principal, the Salón Teatro, the Auditorio de Galicia, NUMAX, and Zona C will host the projections and activities of this edition. Tickets and vouchers will be on sale from Tuesday 6th at the Zona C ticket office and on the website compostelacultura.gal.
