Festas de San Xoán 2025
June 23rd, the summer solstice, is the magical eve of “San Juan” (St. John’s Day), an ancient fiesta that is present in all cultures, marking the beginning of the summer, the time of greatest sunlight, the longest day in the year.
During the shortest night of the year, neighbourhood bonfires and sardine dinners are held and music and dancing take over the city.
In addition, there is an extensive programme of activities for all ages at the San Xoán Festival, which is held in the afternoon at PRAZA DE MAZARELOS.

Forth edition of this festival, which is an encounter with the local community and the rock heritage of the area through local and sustainable cultural proposals.
The festivities dedicated to the Apostle, the patron saint of Santiago, of Galicia and of all of Spain, last for about a fortnight. This festival combines religious and official solemnity, tradition and entertainment, which turn the entire city into a large fiesta.
July 24th and 25th are the two main days. On the night of July 24th there is an impressive firework display in honour of the Apostle, visible from different points in the city.
