13th Edition Mercado da Estrela
The Mercado da Estrela is a Christmas festival where the creative people of Galicia show us the fruit of their talent on the eve of the holidays so that we can enjoy their pampered creations, pieces, products, elaborations and compositions, or turn them into original and innovative gifts acquired under the seal of #talentogalego in the nerve centre of Compostela for hugs, reunions and toasts before Christmas Eve!
Almost a hundred brands of crafts, fashion, illustration, toys, photography, design, decoration, food and wine products, latest trends and much more, in a contemporary creative fair that completes its proposal with foodtrucks, food stalls and a very attractive programme of concerts, DJ sessions and workshops designed to enjoy creativity and shared time.
A free festival that distributes its contents among different spaces of outstanding historical and heritage value in Santiago de Compostela to rediscover them through a route that allows you to discover the impressive architectural and cultural wealth of this World Heritage city, while enjoying the lively atmosphere that characterises the festival and discovering the creative wealth of Galicia's new talents.

From Friday 29 November to Sunday 5 January you can enjoy the impressive nativity scene donated and assembled by the nativity scene maker José Uzal: more than 500 figures make up this nativity scene which includes different scenes, moving pieces and also special lighting and sound effects.

The “Xenerais da Ulla” is the most outstanding feature of the Ulla region’s traditional Carnival. It has been held in the surroundings of Santiago since the first half of the 19th century: the “Xenerais” (generals) ride on horseback, dressed in colourful military garments similar to those of that time, but they also include purely carnivalesque adornments, which the horses also wear.
