Galicia, a story in the world explores the reality of and relationship between the historical territory of Galicia and other countries and civilisations, as well as its impact on crucial historical events. It thus destroys the myth of isolation and periphery. Conceived as the first major international exhibition organised by the Regional Government of Galicia for the “Xacobeo” Holy Year of St James in 2021, and curated by Manuel Gago Mariño, it argues that Galicia can be seen as a vantage point from which to tell the story of the universe, and as a people wanting to participate in the world.
Jewels of universal heritage brought together in a single exhibition: the Book of Invasions, the Kennicott Bible, the Vatican's 'Calixtine Codex', the Saint of Asorey... more than three hundred works from places such as Oxford, Cambridge, Dublin, Rome, Lisbon, Buenos Aires or Montevideo. A journey through the four cardinal points discovering the myths, histories and memories that forged the Galician identity during millennia.
An interactive journey
Through augmented reality, virtual reality or systems of sensory presence, Galicia, a story in the world uses technology to expand objects and bring them into our present, allowing visitors to experience the story at first hand.
